| Wijngoed informatie | "Chakana Wines are made in a state-of-the-art winery, built in the estate with the purpose of achieving outstanding quality. Its modular building has been designed to follow the productive growth of the vines. Today, we have 10.000 HL of stainless steel capacity in very small tanks designed to maximize skin contact with must during fermentation. The winemaking process is focused on treating the grapes with great care and on strictly controlling every productive stage. Chakana is a modern enterprise that takes up an old family legacy. At the turn of the 19th century, Giovanni Pelizzatti started producing high quality wines in the DOCG Valtellina, Lombardia, in Northern Italy. At present, the descendants of this pioneer have revived this passion on both sides of the Ocean. In Europe, Pelizzatti-Perego Winery Ar.Pe.Pe, and in the Andes foothills of Argentina, Chakana Wines. Chakana develops the concept of estate wines, making them in the same place where grapes are grown. This complete integration between agricultural and enologic practices, result in wines of superior expression. Chakana offers the best expression of its unique terroir: Agrelo, at Lujan de Cuyo County, Mendoza.Wine design is under the responsibility of the re-known international wine consultant Alberto Antonini. Chakana is located on a 150 ha. estate 34 km South of the city of Mendoza, in Agrelo, Lujan de Cuyo 960 masl. In this piece of land there are 35 year-old Malbec, Bonarda and Cabernet Sauvignon vines recovered, and new hectares have been planted following the most modern viticulture criteria. The estate has deep and textured soils that facilitates plant development, confers great body and structure to the wines. The elaboration remainders are re-utilized in soil nutrition. Its year-long sunny and dry conditions allow almost organic viticulture practices. Its outstanding feature is a great daily thermal amplitude, with mild days and cold nights, permitting a particular richness of polifenols that improves the wines flavors and color. " |
