Between two countries, between two cultures, the Andean mountains mark the Chilean-Argentinean border, a symbol with a strong presence in all Chilean vineyards. The assemblage of this wine brings together the excellent qualities of its varieties. The old Cariena vines of the high Andean valleys produce limited harvests which are extraordinarily concentrated, intense, converted into ripe fruit and pure velvet. Intense dark ruby colour, with hints of purple and mahogany on the edges. Warm and dense aroma reminiscent of spices and forests. The elegant palate has silky tannins and notes of fruit (blueberry and blackcurrant jams) over a background of rich vegetal and spicy tones (clove, tobacco, pepper). Barrel ageing has added touches of vanilla and smoke. The varietal character of the old Cariena vines is outstanding in the long and intense aftertaste.

| Wijngoed informatie | "In 1979, this hundred year-old wine-making company acquired a small winery in Curicó, in the Chilean central valley, as the first foreign company to back Chilean vineyard production located in a unique magical landscape, at the feet of the Andes volcanoes. Today, after almost thirty years, those 100 hectares acquired then have turned into 445 hectares of vineyards owned by the company itself. The first estates in these lands were Maquehua, San Francisco Norte and Cordillera. At the end of the 90s they added San Luis de Alico and Empedrado. The excellent climate conditions for cultivating grapevines, with great temperature differences between night and day and lands free of grape phylloxera, have contributed to the fact that sublime wines are being made in lands from where one can view the greatness of the Andes, crowned by snow and a noble beauty.
